Interestingly, they have cost the country much more money than any of Thaksin's corrupt practices. They've temporarily crippled a major section of Thailand's economy. And they don't seem to care about this, which, in my opinion, is clear eveidence that this is a power struggle and is nothing to do with how corrupt or uncorrupt a particular party is. She didn't succeed in killing herself, so they had some ritual and did away with her. I couldn't watch that part (South Park is disturbing!) but it certainly made the same point you are making.
